macro image for whole workshop     A "Melting Pot" with ingredients of prejudice, stereotyping, and Mockery: dished out by the Mass Media.

Any keen eye of diligent observation won't fail to notice how America thrives on diversity. It has become the sole hub of the globe's numerous and varied cultures, races, and religions. In spite of the convergence of all the different cultures on America, no particular group can claim itself to be more American than another.
How the cultures embrace themselves together in order to create and celebrate a homogeneous society is quite exceptional, especially the manner in which members exhibit pride in their own cultural heritage and still celebrate being Americans.
Even though the country's rich multicultural heritage provides an irreplaceable contribution to the understanding of its people. Unfortunately, the continuous negative depiction of Cultures in the mass media has been detrimental to the unity of their co-existence.
Mass media, especially the movie industry of Hollywood, is constantly and relentlessly blowing the trumpet of all Gay men are feminine, all White folks are racists, all Latinos are here illegally, all Christians are hypocritical, all Blacks are lazy and lives on welfare etc.
It's absolutely obvious that those depictions are just ridiculous and false. Regrettably, those misconceptions have continued to linger in the American psychics. They revisit them in the bliss of ignorance and frustration. The media's surreptitious manipulation of the American public for monetary gains and control is quite a fascinating concept. An example of such manipulation was recently highlighted in its dissemination of the "Infamous photo," placed in Florida high school's yearbook. The picture showed half a dozen students attired in a Ponchos and Sombreros with fake mustaches, with one of them wearing a shirt labeled "border patrol."
It's understandable that the motive of the young people was a mere joke. However, the underlying factor is where did the inspiration for the joke derived from?  Did it come from their cultural, social, family, or mass media orientation?
Unfortunately for them, mass media spread the news of that innocent joke, and it's going be the same media that would have their silly mistake in their media archives for a pretty long time to come. A prudent piece of admonition to all is to be all responsible when engaged with mass media
