Impact of Music In Culture
The influences of the various musical movement of American history impacted American culture for generations upon generations of United States citizens and continue to influence the culture today. Throughout the years, there as been an immense transition in America of both music and culture. In each decade a new idea or concept further shaped America into what it is today. Let us talk about the kind music that is popular now amongst American youth. RNB which stands for Rhythm and Blues, it is a
popular music genre combining
jazz,
gospel, and
blues influences, first performed by
African American artists. This genre of music is very popular in the American youth culture and let us not forget about Hip Hop and Rep amongst many other genre of music which have a huge influence on the American youth today.
In Angola (Southwest Africa) for example the most influential genre of music are called Kizomba, Tarashinha, Semba (dance in pairs) and Kuduro.
Kuduro (or
kuduru) is a type of music and dance originally developed in
Angola in the 1980s. It is characterized as uptempo, energetic, and danceable. Kuduro began in
Luanda, Angola in the late 1980s. Initially, producers sampled traditional carnival music like
soca and
zouk from the Caribbean, and also
semba from Angola.
Luanda,
Angola started mixing African percussion samples with
zouk and
soca to create a style of music then known as
Batida ("Beat"). As seen in the image the upper right side, Kuduro is a very energetic and fun dance that the youth of Angola very much enjoy dancing.
