Soviet and Communist Propaganda Media Messages

In chapters 1+2 of our textbook, Cultural Studies Theory and Practice, discusses Marx's theories about materialism, and how it relates to the media culture in the United States. Thinking about Marxism and Media, it inspired me to think about Communist government propaganda in their state media such as the Soviet Union. I started to learn about communist governments in
my freshman year of High school. All freshmen in my High school were required to learn about the regime of Mao Zedong in China. We were taught about the Cultural Revolution and how Mao's political system was like during his regime. We were even required to read a biography novel, about a Chinese teenager who experienced the Cultural Revolution, but I don't remember the name. This made me interested in researching Communist government media propaganda by looking up the media messages through propaganda posters and videos. Many of the communist propaganda such as the soviet union and Mao regime in China; depicts the U.S. and capitalism as their main enemy. The propaganda depicts the U.S. and many people still believe this as "imperialists". However in reality those communist countries such as the Soviets and the Communist Party of China also act imperialistic like our country. However I agree with some of the propaganda showing societal problems in America such as race issues. This is because we do have social injustice problems in the US such as income inequality and poverty in the cities.

An example of a soviet propaganda depicts Life in the U.S. during the 1930's. (No English Subtitles).

And here is a Chinese propaganda poster of the Chinese People's Liberation Army deterring U.S. Soldiers
